So, I briefly mentioned the test drive of the new Ford Taurus 2010. I know this whole story is going backwards, and you will actually hear the beginning of it tomorrow, but the middle part of the story is the Mile High Mama's and Ford show the Ford Taurus 2010 around Denver co-event. We were about an hour and a half late, and by the time we got there I pretty much didn't want to sit in a car at all. But, really, who doesn't want to drive a pretty new car? Not only that but a pretty new car that looks NOTHING like a soccer mommy mobile? So, test drive I did.
Once we finally did arrive,it was nice. A couple of local bloggers, the Ford Folk, and the ladies from Mile High Mama were all tucked up by a fireplace and warm. There was still hot food out to be eaten, chitter to be chatted, and then...... the test drive.
Ooooh, this car is so pretty! It does not look AT ALL like any Taurus I have seen before. My big butt snuggled so comfortably in the seat it actually felt like it was little. If I was a man, I could go on and on (I am sure) about the 3.5-liter v6 Duratec engine. But since I am not, here is what I will tell you. I will tell you that the picture above is not the best of me at all, and I promise Frank from Ford was not jabbing me in the side demanding that I smile. I think I was in the middle of a sentence when I heard "say cheese!" I will also tell you I LOVED the little gear shifter on the steering wheel. Granted I was still too nervous and didn't use it, but it is cool feature. The cruise control has collision warning (I HATE when hubby uses cruise control. It seems to be foot off gas mind off road, but this feature would make me feel better!), and all around air bags for accidents~even of the terrifying rolling over kind. Heck, the car even calls 9-1-1. I'm sure that Frank thought he was on one of those zoo trains that goes about ten miles an hour, but I didn't really want to see if that button really called 9-1-1.
The car seemed so little on the outside compared to my mommy-mobile, but it was pretty roomy on the inside. I think, though, that my favorite feature is the phone. There is a little button to push, you say call so and so, and the car calls so and so!!!! No hand dialing! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. I also love the stereo controls on the steering wheel. My babies are still little, but for those whose babies are starting to drive, it also has lots of other great things that will make those naughty teens mad. Like a top speed limiter, audio volume limiter, and early low fuel warning (my dad would have set this at like half a tank I swear).
See, Frank is a nice guy!
So thanks to the Mile High Mama's and Ford for this event. I felt a little bit younger for fifteen minutes in that fancy little car!
