Pumpkin Patch placeholders! Day 13

I had a lot of fun with this craft. My son LOVES rocks. I don't understand why kids like rocks so much but the do. Yesterday we couldn't leave the dollar store parking lot until he found the perfect rock. I wonder what makes it the perfect rock? Anyway, since we have so many, I decided to do some crafts with his fun little rocks and today is the first of two!

I took one of his bigger rocks, figuring no pumpkin is perfect anyway, and got to work. Very simple

Materials:

  • Rock
  • Orange Paint
  • Black Permanent Marker
  • Fake flowers/leaves (Hmmm...I suppose you could use real ones, too!
  • Green chenille Stem
  • Hot glue gun, or tacky glue would work too.
  • Small paper plate
  • White paper or namecards

Directions:

  1. Paint the rock orange and let dry.
  2. While drying glue the rocks and flowers on the plate, covering the whole plate.
  3. When rock is dry, color a pumpkin face on it using a marker
  4. twist the chenille stem like a slinky and glue on top of the rock
  5. Add name cards when ready, or simply use for pretty little spot holders!
Since my son likes both rocks and painting so much, I am going to have him make another one with more little rocks like an actual pumpkin patch!

yes, that is a nosy little kitty in the corner. She kept trying to bite the leaves off the plate.

6 of you are the "cool kids":

It came out so cute. I'm laughing so hard cause your kitty in the corner. It makes me miss my Pain in the Butt Kitty Chloe who's probably hiding under my bed right now sleeping.

Looks great!!! BTW, we did it! We made those little ghosts. My son decorated his shelf with them. They don't look as good as yours but we had so much fun!!! Thanks again!
