Some of you know this, some may not, but I actually work from home in a virtual call center. NO, I am not the annoying idiot who calls you in the middle of your dinner and then can't understand why you are angry, I am the one that you call to yell at when the company I work for did something to tick you off that didn't involve me at all. Which leads me to today's topic.
Big surprise here people, I AM NOT THE ONE WHO SENT YOU THE WRONG ITEM! I AM NOT THE ONE THAT DIDN'T CALL YOU BACK, AND I AM NOT THE ONE WHO CAME UP WITH THE STUPID POLICY THAT YOU ARE ANGRY ABOUT! Gosh that make me angry. Also, guess what, sometimes phones disconnect. We didn't "hang up on you" because we didn't want to talk to you. And finally, I don't care if the last 100 people did something, if it is against our policy, I am going to stick to it, even if you threaten to call my supervisor, who is telling me not to let you do it anyway.
One of my absolute favorite sayings that is pinned right up on my desk "we the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful" (and may I add getting paid very little to do so!) Enough said.
So please, think of me the next time you call and yell at some innocent person who is just trying to pay the bills. We have the same complaints you do, honest.
{clears throat} and now on to today's trick & treat. My frankenstein can.My son loves this thing. Looks kind of hard, but really super simple. I don't know why he looks shiny in the picture, he actually isn't.
Materials
Empty (and cleaned) soup, veggie, whatever can
sheet of black felt
Sheet of green felt
2 Black Chenille stems
Sheet of white felt
teeny bit of white paint, or just use some more white felt
Hot glue-or regular
Scissors
DIRECTIONS.
- Make sure can does not have any sharp edges around the opening. If it does, use a piece of sandpaper to sand them down.
- Lay green felt flat. Lay the can down on to the felt. Roll the can up in the felt to see exactly how much you will need to go all the way around the can. Trim, leaving about 1/2" overlap. Leave about 1" overlap that will fold over the bottom of the can as well as a 1" overlap for the top (mouth) of the can. Glue the green felt around the can, glue the excess overlap to the bottom and inside the mouth of the can.
- To create the hair, lay the black felt on the work surface and place the can on top like you did for the green. Roll can up in the black felt and measure about 2" down from the top of the can. Trim excess. Before gluing black felt, cut one side in a grass-like scissor cut for the hair.
- Glue the hair in place
- Using the photo as a guide, cut out two white half circles for the white of the eyes, two small circles for the pupils, and a small black half circle for the nose. Glue into place.
- Take one black chenille stem and cut into four pieces. Wrap two around a pencil to curl tightly and glue on the sides of the can for the bolts. Use the other two for the eyebrows (may need to trim these a little shorter)
- Use the second chenille stem to form the mouth
- Using some white paint, felt, or white chenille stem, make a small little scar over one eyebrow.
- And there is your pencil/candy/whatever holder!
- Cut out the pattern for the nose from the light green felt and glue in place.

10 of you are the "cool kids":

Happy Halloween!
Very cute craft today! :)
That stinks about the rude calls you get! I would definitely not be able to do that job.
Cute craft idea. Your job sounds like it can be frustrating....but the making money from home part sounds nice. I would love to get in on that!!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. You are completely right about kids not realizing that it seems like you like certain things because you do it for them!
You have to love working in customer service. We send out jokes via text message and kids would sign up for them and not tell their parents. I'd have to listen to the parents lecture me about how their kids behaved. I'd tell them, you are the parent take their phone away. LOL Some where really rude too!
Ahhh the life of customer service. I used to work for a credit card company and I still to this day remember the guy who was so horrid he made me sob. When he finally asked for a supervisor I was so worked up I couldn't even explain why the man was angry. I didn't last long in that job.
I used to be a cashier and I just loved it when something was on sale and we didn't have the item so the customers would yell at the cashier, like it was our fault. I love the can.
Rude calls are frustrating. But the good part is you are home with your kids ;)You know me always try to see the good side:)Pretty cute craft!
Thanks for visiting my blog!
REALLY like the Frankenstein can!
I used to work as a 'Product Consultant' at QVC. I hear ya. Especially on the "I don't care if the last 100 people did something, if it is against our policy, I am going to stick to it, even if you threaten to call my supervisor, who is telling me not to let you do it anyway." I will never, ever work phones anywhere ever again...But...I am, as a result, super sweet to anyone who takes my call AND I get better customer service this way. GO FIGURE. MORONS. :p
No way girlie! I do this part time also for a call center here in Washington. It's a lot of fun but you do have those crazy people that aren't always sweet. Too funny!
Healthy what is that ... LOL ;) Thanks sweetie I'll have to check it out.
