Witch cupcakes and spider webs

So, I have been bad at the bloggin' thing this weekend. I have spent some needed downtime, spent some time up to my ears in laundry, spent some time crafting, and spent some time with my two little monkeys. So now I will post two things you can do for Tricks & Treats for our little sweets. The first is actually something I found in Parenting last year. I haven't done them yet, but I do plan on it when there is at least one other adult to entertain. The second is a little craft that my friend's daughter did in her preschool class that I thought was cute!

Witch Cupcakes by Parents.com

Ingredients
  • 1-1/2  cups chocolate frosting
  • 1  package (4-3/4 ounces chocolate cones (Nabisco Oreo Cones)
  • Orange nonpareils
  • 1  can (16 ounces) vanilla frosting, divided
  • Neon-green food coloring
  • 12  cupcakes, removed from paper liners
  • Chocolate chips
  • Green and red tube icing
  • Mike and Ike Tangy Twister candies
  • Chocolate Jimmies
Directions 1. Place chocolate frosting in a freezer-weight zip-top bag and snip off a small corner. Pipe base of cones, dip in orange nonpareils, and set aside.
2. Place 1/2 cup vanilla frosting in a another zip-top bag and snip off a small corner. Tint remaining frosting green and frost cupcakes.
3. Turn cupcakes on sides, then place decorated cones on top. Using vanilla frosting, pipe eyes on cupcakes. Attach chocolate chips for pupils and pipe a dot onto chips. Use red icing for mouths, green icing for warts; shape candies into noses. Pipe chocolate icing onto cupcakes for hair and sprinkle with chocolate jimmies.

Super cute, right? Some of the suggestions on parents.com said to cut the bottom part flat so the cupcake doesn't roll. I have also seen these cupcakes done by filling the cupcakes higher so you can just leave it straight up when you do them. Either way, awesome if you are having a party!

Spider Web
This one is super easy, and actually, my son and I did it with felt instead of construction paper and it looked AWESOME! Then why in the world would I not post a picture of that also? Well maybe because the toddler tornado has already played with it until it is no longer a spider web and is more like a spider wrapped up in a all of yarn.

Take a large square of black construction paper or felt. Cut a slit each inch all the way around. Using white yarn, weave it in and out as much as you would like. Take one of those little spider rings and put it on the yarn (if it does not have an opening, be sure put it on the yarn before you start winding it around the paper).
And there is your simple little spider web!

This is my friend's daughter's spider that she made at preschool, all by her self!

6 of you are the "cool kids":
