It has been a busy busy month! So quick that I barely noticed it was Halloween and then it was over. Here is our Holiday Weekend summary, complete with pictures!
Friday was an awesome day spent with close friends. I think it was the perfect day for a kid. We made cookies, we made caramel apples, they played in the snow. But mommy-story here. This was the first time my son has actually understood decorating the cookies.....or so I thought. His definition is completely different from mine!! He took one cookie that I had frosted, (I think we convinced him to partially decorate two others, it was mainly just the one), and then he put sprinkles on it...and licked the sprinkles off. Put more sprinkles on...licked them off. Need more icing (here mom!), sprinkles, lick, repeat. He did this the WHOLE time the other kids decorated all the other cookies! And the apples. Silly little guy. He couldn't decide between red or green, so he ate one of both! After all that, he NEEDED to get outside! It was actually the first time my son has ever really played in the snow. He rolled down the hill, made his first snow angel, and threw his first snowball. Then we finished our huge spider pumpkin! Perfect.
But Halloween is different than when I grew up. Only every 4th or 5th house didn't have the light on. Now every 4th or 5th house DOES! Everywhere you looked was a group of trickor treaters. We saw three other groups. My mom had ONE set of kids while we were gone. Remember the lines? You would actually have to WAIT to get candy at houses. Not any more! I remember my parents looking for open candy and home made treats, throwing them out. Now you have to look at the packages for holes. What has happened to Halloween?!?
So, with this is the end of trick or treats, but no worries my friends. From now until Christmas I will be having a gift buying guide, showing you fun giveaways, frugal and fun ideas, and where to get some great deals!
What is your fun mommy-story from this Halloween?

Wait! You had snow! eeek...
Our numbers were way down too. We usually get about 50 kids, this year we had 1? I don't know what is going on. Too many old people on our street with their lights out o the kids went elsewhere?
Happy Halloween.
Love the cookie story. Too cute! And I love the big spider pumpkin! So glad you enjoyed Halloween. If you miss the lines and the crowds of people at the doors come visit my neighborhood next year!
My mom-story is that my kid wore me out!!! My middle one is apparently a trick or treat die hard. I practically had to drag him in (long after his big brother gave up!)
Sounds like a fantastic time. I love caramel apples. I could go for one right now. LOL
Ohhh looks like you had a wonderful Halloween weekend. He looks so cute. I'll have pictures of the girls up soon. Thanks for commenting on my post. I'm so glad that she's out of our lives forever.
I'm not a Mommy (yet) so I can't share a story but I did want to say I love that Costume!
Snow on the ground!! Wow!!
Amazing! That looks like so much fun. It was so hot here in SC, we had to put shorts on!
No good mommy story, just trying to make it with the tooth ache :).
i should have done the zoo looks like a lot of. We're a member... LOL I should do it :)
Looks like you guys had a ton of fun!
Sweet, can I have a cookie? Or two? I love that pumpkn spider too!
We had fun making cookies, trick or treating at the retirement community with our playgroup, and finally trick or treating around the block. Lots of kids and families were out. Unusually warm. So much fun!
And, a treat for me, you say??
We live in a new community and it was slow last year so I thought with more and more people moving in, it would pick up this year. It did a tiny bit. I think we have about 15 people.
I agree with the neighborhoods though. I actually stood still a moment and looked around and at one point there was not a single house in sight that had their lights on or any decorations up. It's frustrating for the kids who are really doing their best to walk from house to house.
What a super cute costume! Glad to hear your little one enjoyed Halloween. Wow, and snow there too!
I love that spider! I'm going to have to remember that one for next year. Love the pics of the kiddos. Brings back so many memories of my own.
