My little guy LOVES to draw. He loves to draw circles, and smiley faces, and people, and whatever his little imagination dreams up for him. So I was really excited to review "The Art House" DVD. I set my little guy up with his drawing table, some crayons and some paper. He wanted me to draw with him, so I got some for myself too. Silly as it sounds, I had fun. The Art House DVD is recommended for ages 3 and older, and teaches....

how to draw almost anything using basic shapes such as circles, squares, and triangles. It encourages developing artistic skills at an early age, which  has proven to promote communication skills, perspective, and perspective. Including printable coloring pages, the DVD starts with basic shapes and then does a step by step demonstration of how to use these steps to draw fish, dogs, monkeys, birds, and dinosaurs. 

I will admit, my husband got EXTREMELY irritated by the song that played over and over on the main menu as I searched the house for the missing remote control, but really.....what song isn't annoying on the fiftieth time played? My son and daughter liked the song, they were dancing!

We probably started a little too advanced. Instead of starting with the shapes, my son chose to start with the monkey. I must say, though, for a two year old he didn't do bad! He was great at drawing the circles, and tried very hard on everything else. His main struggle is going to be learning to actually pick the crayon up from the paper, he liked the continuous lines!

We did go back and do the shapes, and we even watched the little music videos they have. He loved it! Even after I turned off the DVD, he kept trying to draw the fishies! I think it will be perfect as he grows with it and learns how to draw his shapes a little better.

The best part is, when your little one masters these pictures, they will be releasing more in 2010, such as Volume 2: Start Your Engines, Volume 3: On the Farm and Volume 4: Under the Sea.
