2010 is almost upon us. I can't believe how fast the past ten years have been. Here is the past ten years in a nutshell:
- 2000 Graduated College
- 2001-2003 are pretty much a blur of ex-fiancees, booty pants and backless shirts (NO, not stripping, but really, all single girls are only a pole away aren't they?) living alone for the first time, martini's, car accidents, first jobs, new jobs, red bull/jaeger shots, late nights etc etc etc etc. All leading up to meeting my future husband.
- 2004 got engaged
- 2005 got married
- 2006 bought our first house and got pregnant with our first
- 2007 had our first
- 2008 got pregnant and had our second
- 2009-started this blog and (thanks to Stacey) began writing for the examiner.com.
My husband and I have always loved New Year's Eve as OUR holiday. Our very first one together was spent in a cabin with a bunch of his friends, and it was one of "those" moments that you just knew. Well, we knew and then we got too drunk to remember for a few months. Our second we spent locked in our first apartment together. We feasted on oysters and lobster and way too much champagne. We played dominoes, gin, darts, and phase 10. We decided that nice meals and a game night (we used to LOVE game nights) would be our tradition. The next year he worked and I was pregnant so I went to work to share the moment with him. It was our first night without oysters and champagne, but we had little smokies and sparkling cider. The following year we spent with an almost 1-yr old that wouldn't sleep, trying to play games but being interrupted by the little stinker. We did still have good food though! Last year the kids were asleep, but we had Wii and good food! This year I am not even going to attempt to put the kids to bed. Hubby works until 11, but I will be making the yummy's still!
Our menu:
Homemade sushi
Steamed dumplings
Lil' smokies
Shrimp and cocktail sauce
and, of course, the same bottle of champagne that we have had EVERY year. He bought it for us special the first year we got togethe. We even have a bottle to give each kid on a special day of theirs, whether it be their wedding/college graduation or whatever.
Our games:
Candy Land
Playing on the new train table
Playing tea party
The rules:
No phone, no computer (sorry, family first, that is what we blog about, what would we do without them?), and lots of cuddles and kisses required.
I hope you have a FANTASTIC 2010, and I am looking forward to sharing more memories, stories, and moments with all of you. Thank you for being one of the shining moments of my 2009.

9 of you are the "cool kids":

What a wonderful way to ring in a new year! Have a lovely time!
Sounds like a wonderful night. YUMMY too. I am making little smokies in the crockpot now. Thought I would quick droop my entre cards since I was gone all day then it's family time!
That sounds lovely. I've never really enjoyed the new year's eve celebrations 'cause I've wanted to share it with someone who I can cuddle and kiss with that I was madly in love with. I like spending the time with my oldest daughter watching the ball drop, but one day I hope to spend it in a more romantic way. Happy New Year.
I'm sitting here waiting for the ball to drop as we speak...(write)...2010 is going to be so much brighter...I can feel it already! Much love mama:) Happy New Year.
