When I first received The Lightkeeper's Daughter, I was unsure if this would be the type of book I would enjoy. Though the cover is a beautiful picture, it gave me the feeling of one of those romance stories that didn't keep me interested for too long. It didn't take me too long, though, to realize that this book is filled of unexpected twists and turns. 

The story, written by Colleen Coble, is based around Addie Sullivan, a beautiful girl living a quiet life with her parents until a her father dies and leaves her with an angry mother....until a knock at the door. That visitor brings a shocking message that turns Addie's life upside down and guides her into a world of mystery, love danger and faith. She must choose a risky life, or risk losing the greatest love she has ever known.

There is some great romance, but that isn't all the book is about. There is mystery and drama, suspense and surprises. I kept guessing who the bad guy was, but I was wrong, and I LOVE that about this book. Addie is strong and faithful, and she reminds us more than once who and what really get us through. There were moments of the book that were did remind me of a cheesy romance novel, but overall the message and the suspense are intriguing enough to keep you turning the pages until the very end....when you are given the biggest surprise of all. I enjoyed the book from beginning to end, and I took the messages to heart. I would definitely recommend this book to family and friends.
