This weekend, my husband and I took the kids to the local amusement park. Not the good one, mind you, the old one that my son got coupons for from the summer reading program. Didn't matter to us, we just wanted a family day and we wanted the kids to have fun. So, a long story short, I misunderstood coupons-they weren't good on weekend. So, I used another coupon, then realized when we went in that the coupon was for ALL rides and we were in kiddie land only, and we were about to be overcharged because of it. The lady at the ticket booth told me to go get the coupon and money back from the front gate do and bring it to her so I could pay the correct amount. Apparently I needed a manager to do this-fine. But he didn't want to come to us. In fact he told the other employee to tell us we could either go to him or leave (without our money mind you). And then, when we got there, this is what happened.
His first words to me were “tears won’t get you anywhere missy”. All I wanted was to pay the additional $6.25 that we owed and get on with our day. But I was not able to explain this as we didn’t get a word out without being interrupted. Neither my husband nor I raised our voices, we didn’t throw a fit, we were trying to stay calm. Earl simply told us “We were the ones in the wrong and he was going to prove to us why we were wrong.” He told me to be quiet, and he told my husband to keep his mouth shut. He also said that the people who participated in the reading program, both the parents and their kids “could not read either before or after the program”.
What I said was "thank you sir". You may be asking yourself why I didn't say more. Well, this was the type of jerk who wasn't going to listen to me anyway. He didn't care what I had to say. He wanted to say what he wanted to say. And I had two kids that had already been dragged away from all the fun rides. And it was family day. This jerk wasn't worth it. BUT, what I wanted to say was
"Listen you old little pitiful excuse of a man. I have more years of education than you can even count since you would have to take off your shoes in order to do so. The only reason you feel it necessary to yell at me and "educate" me is because you have absolutely no self-esteem. You realize you are nothing but a pitiful bully. Get off your flipping high horse that I could kick over without even trying if I really wanted to and let my kids have their fun. I know a family day may be hard for you to comprehend because no one can deal with your grumpy old arse, but there are people out there that care about other things than trying to make someone feel bad. SO, unless you want me to give my husband the go to jump over that desk and take out all of the pent-up frustration he has felt since my first was born, I strongly recommend you shut up that fat mouth that is spewing wretched breath all over my clean clothes and give me my flip fudging tickets NOW!!!!"

10 of you are the "cool kids":
sorry to hear that customer service wasn't a part of the manager's 'education'... hope the rest of your day went better!
omg what a jerk yeah you did better than me because i would have let him have it!!!
Jeez. Oh my!
What a jerk! All you wanted was the discount...Anybody could have misread the tickets...
*sigh*
You should have said that to that man!!!
Grrrr....
Holy cow .. I woulda had a whack at him before that,k and getting thenumber to corporate and filing a formal complaint.. Talk about rude, ignorant and self righteous.. How did he get to be manager anyway.. Not for his people skills apparently.
Go mama!
Vicki did you ever get the tickets? You should have said excuse me grab the kids and step outside. I bet your husband would have gotten things fixed fast.
I hate people like that! And you are right, sometimes, it's not worth the effort with these types of people.
What a jerk!!!
I wish you had said all that to him. Maybe you can send him and e-mail or something, fill out a customer complaint online?
:)
Oooo, sometimes it bites to take the high road.
Did you guys get to have any fun?
WOW......that is insane! I can't believe the manager acted like that. What a jerk! I kind of wish you had actually said that to him!
