The only time I have ever really thought about my dinnerware was when we were registering for our wedding. We lovingly picked out those beautiful plates and clicked our way through matching salt and pepper shakers, butter dish, serving plates and pitcher. And for the first three years they were beautiful. And then we had kids....kids that like to help set the table and unload the dishwasher. And if I am going to be honest, I also have a husband that isn't so careful about LOADING that dishwasher. So, it is time again to start thinking about dinnerware.
My mom has Mikasa plates and I know she loves them, so I headed there. The selection is huge! Our wedding set was perfect, not too masculine and not too feminine. So of course my husband was worried that there wouldn't be anything that wasn't "girly". However, we actually agreed on more than one pattern, and finally decided on this.....
I love square plates. I am not exactly sure why, but I think they are fun. And I HAVE to have a deep bowl. I love lots of soup and cereal. And this is something that we can realistically afford to buy one another for Christmas. Woo hoo for new plates! Although I think I may put them in a separate counter that is locked and only I have the key.
And of course I kept browsing....I mean we may buy each other the plates but a mommy needs a little something extra, right? The first place I headed was serveware. No offense to my husband, but the cheap canisters he got me a couple of years ago just aren't cutting it. They aren't closing well (when my husband actually uses the clasp at all), and they just don't look good. Now something like these would look nice in my kitchen.
They have really cute silverware as well. I loved their new little heart spoons. Maybe not practical for my soup, but they would be great as something special for my husband's coffee or my children's ice cream! Even better was that there are a lot of items on the site that I can actually afford, either for myself or as gifts. They even have a clearance and special offers section, which a frugal momma has GOT to love! Head over and check it out! They have some great specials right now!

2 of you are the "cool kids":
You choice is great not only for the design but also the color looks very uncommon. Great pick!
I used to have some Mikasa crystalware...got rid of it. Not a "drinking from crystal" kinda girl. :)
