Sometimes my mom just makes me laugh. Really. If she only knew.
My mom has always been super clean. And she was quick about it. Literally, by the time we went to bed on Sunday night, groceries were bought for the week, all the laundry was done and put away, and......get this.....EVERY SINGLE ROOM in the house was SPOTLESS! I am not talking picked up. I am not even talked dishes away and floors cleaned. Nope. I mean every single surface (including baseboards) was dusted, scrubbed, cleaned and spotless. She could clean her whole house in this way in the same amount of time it takes me to clean my kitchen. And probably not nearly as well as she would.
Birthday parties at my house include a very long list of cleaning to do beforehand. And I am sure my mom could tell you each inch that still remained dirty. I hate hate hate when she just stops by. I am so embarrassed. Every home that woman has ever lived in looks like a model home. Seriously.
So, when I got her comment on my facebook page asking my advice on how to "stage" her house to sell, I choked on my water. I have literally been trying to make my house look like hers. Plus, telling her what I did would be giving her all my secrets on where I hide messes when she comes over.
Well, at least my kids won't have to worry about what their house looks like when I go over!

I would love to have a mom like that though. Our house with 8 kids was very lived in, so mine is too..twice as lived in I think.

LOL! Luckily, my mom lives a thousand miles away so she doesn't just drop by.
My mom was the same way! LOL... When we talk about the dishes that I may leave in the sink or all the laundry I have to do she can't relate. I have four kids ... uh, children, ages 19, 7, 6 and 3. She had me and my brother who is 9 years older than I am so she had to only children. LOL. I'm glad she can't just drop by (I'm in GA and she's in MD) because I'll have enough warning to get everything in place! :-) Love this post.
That is so funny. You know she was probably cursing you all while she was doing that, though! LOL
My mother in law was the same way... her house was museum-like. Then I realized, you know, who cares. If she gets stressed about MY mess.... who cares. It really doesn't bother me... it bothers HER because she WANTS it to be clean like hers. But I have three kids... and now THREE DOGS! Fact is... it AINT gonna be clean like that!
