A house I would buy

Staging your house is just cruel. I know that it is all a carefully balanced game that has only gotten more competitive with the economy. But this is ridiculous. I feel like I need to stand at the door in my apron and freshly-pressed dressed with cookies in hand and a meatloaf in the oven.

Yeah, that isn't my life. I looked around my house after my realtor told me "well, you could try to get rid of some clutter". Yeah, everything that is clutter is toys. Toys that get played with every day. I came to realize that I don't have a house, my children do. This is their roof that I just happen to pay for. Each and every room is marked by the kids.....down to the bathroom and the stepstools and my bedroom with the children's movies.

I think I did less de-cluttering than I did rearranging. Things were carefully tucked into closets and neatly organized bins. The only things that did get stored away? Well, all of the adult stuff of course. I am not putting away expensive toys that will be soon outgrown. I was smart enough to clear a space to shove the last minute clutter when I get the "you have a showing" call.

The thing that sucks is......now my house is all nice and clean and looks so big. Hmmmm, looks like a house I would like to live in.

5 of you are the "cool kids":

Oh dear! I always think that about those shows on TV too! By the time the crew is done staging the house there really is no need to move:) Best of luck!

I know that feeling all too well. I hope it sells soon.

I think you are right. You now have a beautiful big house that you love. But............Sooner or later out comes the goodies and it is time for a bigger one.

I think the thought of having to stage my house would give me the hives! Seriously, we have SO MUCH SHIT that I just would have a nervous breakdown! LOL

I try to corrall the toys to the playroom so at least the bedrooms look nice BUT since our PLAYROOM is SUPPOSED to be the formal DINING ROOM... we'd probably have to move crap all over the place! (ain't gonna happen!)

So, when it's time for us to move... we'll MOVE OUT! ha!
